Introduction

Amavida International Montessori School Vienna offers Montessori education for children aged 6 to 12 in a German-English bilingual program with native speakers. The school is located on the countryside outskirts of Vienna at Dornbacher Straße 139, 1170 Wien, and holds public status recognized by the Vienna Department of Education. The curriculum follows Maria Montessori's concept, prioritizing holistic development over testing, with a prepared environment and hands-on materials guided by teachers who hold AMI or ÖMG diplomas. Classes are mixed in age (Primary 1 and Primary 2, a deliberate Big Mix) to foster social learning and independent exploration. From the 4th grade, Spanish is added as a third language. The school plans to open Grades 7-9 in 2027/28. Facilities include over 200m2 of learning space across multiple levels and a garden, plus a Forest Educator to support outdoor learning. After-school care runs Mon-Thu 8:15-15:00 and Fri 8:15-13:00, with optional afternoon sessions.

Academics

Amavida International Montessori School teaches Montessori Curriculum for students aged 6 to 12.

Curriculum

Montessori pedagogy guides the curriculum, focusing on the holistic development of the child rather than tests. The environment is prepared to allow independent exploration guided by trained teachers (ÖMG or AMI diplomas). The learning group is for children aged 6 to 12 with a mixed Primary 1 and Primary 2 structure to foster social learning. The program is German-English bilingual with native speakers, and Spanish is added as a third language from the 4th grade; the school plans to open 7th–9th grades in the 2027/28 school year.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The development and developmental needs of each child are the focus. Educators accompany children and families on their path into adolescence. Cosmic Education (networked and mixed-age learning) is part of the Montessori approach. The school is multilingual, with German and English taught from the start, and Spanish added from the 4th grade. The healthy school environment includes exercise and fresh air on the premises, with organic snacks and lunches.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school teaches German and English with native-speaker teachers. German and English are the languages of instruction and are used according to the language proficiency level in each subject.

Admissions

Admissions

1. Non-binding Pre-Registration: If you are interested in a school place, please complete our online pre-registration form. This is the first step in our admission process. The step is described as non-binding. The PRE-REGISTRATION FORM link is provided on the Admissions page.

2. Personal Interview with Child and Parents: Once we have received your pre-registration, we will invite you and your child to a personal interview. This meeting is a prerequisite for school admission and provides space for an open and transparent exchange. You will meet the school leadership, gain insight into our educational approach, and your child can explore selected Montessori materials.

3. Feedback and Next Steps: Following the interview, you will receive a response from us within a few days. If a place is available, we will send you the school contract for your review and signature. If no spots are available at that time, we will inform you accordingly and are happy to place your child on our waiting list, upon request.

4. Introduction Days: In the summer semester before school begins, all accepted children will be invited to attend two introduction days. On these days, the children experience the real school day, get to know their future classmates and teachers, and gain a first impression of our learning environment. Detailed information regarding dates and schedule will be provided to all accepted families in due time.

Scholarships

AMAVIDA Scholarship: It is a special concern of ours and completely in the spirit of Maria Montessori to be able to offer each child that possibility to be enrolled in our school. As a private school we are also a business organization and have to charge school fees in order to be able to finance the school at all. Nevertheless, we would like to make a qualified contribution to the integration and social permeability of our society and award two partial scholarships for the school year 2023/24 for families who would like to have their children attend the AMAVIDA Montessori School, but whose financial means are not sufficient to cover the full school expenses. The scholarship awarded will be valid until the 6th grade, although the requirements will be reviewed on a yearly basis. The application for the school year 2023/24 can be submitted until 28.02.2023 at the latest. For this purpose, the application form must first be filled out. In addition, we request a letter of motivation from the parents explaining why they have chosen Montessori education. Afterwards, our pedagogues would like to get to know the child ("trial day") and we will invite the parents to a personal interview.

Waitlist
