Academics

London International Academy teaches IB (DP), Canadian Curriculum for students aged 14 to 18.

Curriculum

LIA is certified by the Ontario Ministry of Education to offer courses from Grades 9 to 12 leading to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). The school is also an authorized IB World School offering the two-year IB Diploma Programme for Grades 11 and 12. The OSSD requires 30 credits (18 compulsory, 12 optional), 40 hours of community service, and successful completion of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test. IB students complete the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) requirements alongside their six IB subject groups.

Student Teacher Ratio

The student-to-teacher ratio is 14:1, with approximately 60 faculty members. The school has around 150 to 200 students on campus at any given time.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school has a dedicated counsellor and student services department offering individualised assistance. The Mental Health club provides peer support and awareness activities.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The STEP (Steps to English Proficiency) programme is developed in agreement with the Ontario Ministry of Education. It defines and develops learning criteria for improvement of students' oral, reading, and writing abilities through descriptive feedback and structured language support.

Mental Wellbeing

The school offers a Mental Health club as an after-school activity and has a dedicated counsellor available for student support. A medical room is available on campus.

Safeguarding

The on-campus residence operates a 24-hour security system with video surveillance and electronic key fobs. Five full-time residence staff provide round-the-clock supervision for boarding students.

5. Students are placed into the appropriate programme (Pathway, OSSD, or IB) based on their academic background and English proficiency.

Scholarships

Academic Entry Scholarships are available for well-rounded, highly motivated students with a minimum average of 85-100%. Scholarships are renewable for Years 2, 3, and 4 if eligibility criteria are maintained. Applicants must submit academic records from the previous 2-3 years, a motivation letter, teacher reference letters, and a portfolio demonstrating extracurricular involvement.
