Berlin Bilingual School provides a structured, two-country education for students aged 6 to 18. The school combines the Berlin State Curriculum with elements of a British framework and Cambridge IGCSE, supporting language development. The Primary School follows the Berliner Rahmenlehrplan, with 90-minute teaching blocks and 45-minute lessons. From Grade 3 onward, classes include an Erzieher:in in core subjects, and Grade 5 offers French or Spanish; English and German are taught at native level. The programme prepares students for bilingual qualifications in Secondary School, with more than half the staff native speakers and at least C1 proficiency in the other language. Primary classes are capped at 25 pupils. The campus for the Primary is in Friedrichshain, the Secondary in Pankow, connected by accessible transport links. Facilities include chemistry, music and art rooms, a library, a garden, and social work spaces; theatre, sport halls, and venues are used for performances and PE.

All students study English, German, Mathematics, Social-Studies/Science, Music, Physical Education, and Art, with Grade 3 onward taught by both a teacher and an Erzieher:in. Grade 5 can add French or Spanish; both English and German are taught at native level. The programme aims to prepare students for bilingual qualifications in Secondary School, with more than half the staff native speakers and at least C1 proficiency in the other language. Primary class sizes are capped at 25.
Primary classes have no more than 25 students; secondary class sizes are described as small with a close student-teacher ratio.
Secondary students take the bilingual Abitur in Grade 12 or 13, the German university entrance qualification. The Abitur examinations are conducted in the language in which the subject is taught, enabling study at German and international universities.
Educators (Erzieher:in) support students' social and emotional development throughout the school day and work with teachers to address individual needs. The Hort (after-school care) includes in-class Hort as a platform for discussion, bonding and social education, with topics that address social and emotional well-being. The primary Hort curriculum covers Feelings, Empathy & Tolerance, Developing Self-Awareness, and related social skills to foster inclusive interaction. The Erzieher:in role provides continuity across the day, facilitates group bonding and supports students' social development in class and on the playground. The school emphasises participation, teamwork and cooperation between students, staff and parents, and upholds respect, responsibility and reliability as core values. A Chill out room is available to support student wellbeing.
The school provides bilingual English-German education for primary and secondary students. We enroll students who have been raised in English and German; language proficiency in both English and German is a prerequisite for admission. Students in Grades 2-13 must be bilingual and biliterate. Older students with one language more dominant should have at least a B1/B2 level in the non-mother tongue. The school assesses language skills before enrollment to ensure readiness; applicants from abroad must include the last two report cards. There is no language support programme for students who do not speak German or English; additional tutoring has to be organized by the parents.
The primary co-curricular programme places social and emotional development at the center of day-to-day life, with educators supporting students' social and emotional needs throughout the day. The Hort, including In-Class Hort, provides opportunities for class discussion, bonding and social education. Grades 1-6 Hort topics include Feelings, Empathy & Tolerance, Developing Self-Awareness, Transitions and related social skills. A Chill out room is available to support wellbeing. A Social Worker's Office is open daily in the secondary school to support student wellbeing.

The school seeks a diverse international student population and expects parental involvement in their child's school experience. Native level German and English is a prerequisite for admission; students must be able to follow a school programme taught in both languages. For Primary School – Grade 1 (Year 2027-28), registration on the school website runs from August 9 to September 11, 2026; children born after September 30, 2021 are not considered; admission is not first-come, first-served; an Open House is held on September 5 from 10am to 2pm; an Introduction webinar for the Berlin Bilingual Primary School is offered; after an application is submitted, eligible applicants are invited to a language assessment (date at 26 September 2026); a non-refundable 100€ language assessment fee applies (fee exemption for yearly income below 30,000€). Parents of qualified applicants are contacted for a personal interview (October–January); decisions are emailed at the end of January 2027. For Grades 2–6, online registration expresses interest; applicants submit an application with copies of the two most recent report cards; eligible students are invited to a trial day/assessment with a non-refundable 100€ fee (fee exemption applies); parents of qualified applicants are contacted for a personal interview; parents are notified of acceptance or a place on a waiting list; there are a limited number of places. A limited number of subsidised places are available annually upon application.
Parents are notified of acceptance or if they will be put on a waiting list. Can I put myself on a waiting list for Grade 1 or Grade 7 more than a year in advance? No. For administrative reasons this is not an option.
