Academics

Deutsche Schule Valencia teaches Bespoke Curriculum, German Curriculum for students aged 3 to 18.

Curriculum

Learning is organized in stages—from the Orientation Phase to the Abitur. The Gymnasium guides students from Grade 5 to 12 toward the German International Abitur (DIA). Each stage has a focus: arrival and basics in the Orientation Phase; deeper subject work and personal development in the middle years; and Abitur preparation and career orientation in the final years. The school combines the strengths of the German and Spanish education systems to develop independent, empathetic learners who take responsibility for themselves and others. English begins in Grade 5, Valencian is taught per Valencian Community guidelines, and method training with digital education runs from Grade 5. From Grade 5, differentiated learning paths with extension opportunities are offered, including a German exchange trip in Grade 8 and an internship in Grade 10. Upper secondary centers on project work, academic preparation for the DIA, and international perspectives such as Erasmus+.

Higher Education Progression

Graduates can complete their schooling with two qualifications, enabling access to universities in Germany and Spain. To study in Spain, graduates may earn up to four additional points on their Abitur score, either via EBAU exams at UNED or by recognizing Abitur grades for selected subjects. Individual guidance is provided to plan university access. Upper secondary includes international perspectives and Erasmus+.

Gifted and Talented

Differentiated learning pathways with support and extension opportunities are offered in Secondary Level I.
