Curriculum

The school offers an American curriculum from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, grounded in research-based standards including the Common Core State Standards (for English and mathematics), Next Generation Science Standards, WIDA (for English language learning), ISTE (for technology), and National Core Arts Standards. Lower grades focus on core subjects such as English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, along with electives in world languages, the arts, music, design technology, and physical education. The school incorporates project-based learning (PBL) and social-emotional learning (SEL) throughout grade levels to support student development. In Middle School, students continue with subject-specific instruction and work with advisors for academic and personal support. High School students complete a four-year college preparatory program, earning an American high school diploma and optionally enrolling in Advanced Placement (AP) courses, including the AP Capstone sequence (AP Seminar and AP Research). Counseling and advisory services support university preparation in English-speaking institutions.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school’s counselling team schedules SEL time with students in all grades, focusing on emotional awareness, resilience, and interpersonal skills. Staff provide one-on-one and small group sessions to support personal growth. Mindfulness practices are woven into regular routines, helping students manage emotions. Advisory teachers guide students over the long term.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

XCL ASB’s Learning Support Department supports students with mild to moderate learning needs across Grades K–12 via early screening, learning profiles, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and resource-room or in-class support. Teachers, support staff, and parents collaborate for each student’s learning plan. The school does not function as a specialist SEN institution.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The English Language Learner (ELL) programme offers assessment-based support for multilingual students, using tools such as WIDA testing. ELL instruction is coordinated with class teachers and may be delivered in or out of the classroom. This support is available through to Grade 12 where needed.

Mental Wellbeing

Mindfulness techniques are taught to help students manage stress and self-regulate. The school frames these interventions as part of its broader emotional support framework.

Safeguarding

XCL ASB maintains a comprehensive Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, which includes controlled gate access, visitor ID badges, and mandatory staff training. Students leaving campus must sign out through the Principal’s office; vehicles must display school stickers for identification. In cases of emergency school-wide closure, families are alerted via phone, email, SMS, or social media.

Admissions

Admissions

1. Attend a private tour or open house, if possible. This is strongly encouraged so families can visit the campus, observe learning environments, and meet academic leaders and staff in person.

2. Prepare and submit required documents. Applicants need to complete the official application form and submit supporting documents, which typically include passports/ID, transcripts, health records, photos, and any ELL testing results.

3. Application review and assessment. The school evaluates the submitted documentation and may request interviews, placement tests, or WIDA assessments to determine EAL eligibility before making an admission decision.

4. Receive offer and complete payment. Once a formal offer is issued, required deposits, registration fees, and the chosen campus development fund option must be paid to secure admission.

Scholarships

XCL ASB Sukhumvit offers scholarships for new students entering Grades 6 through 11. Families apply by submitting academic records, a personal statement, and any required forms. Scholarship eligibility is assessed based on merit and potential, and recipients are notified after the application deadline. Scholarships may cover partial tuition, and further details are published on the school’s scholarship page.
